Getting started on your goal

Remember you don’t have to be great to start but you have to start to be great!

Keeping track of your progress while working through my plan is a great way to stay motivated and to see first hand the changes that will be occurring along the way.  Here are a few suggestions on how to get started and stay motivated.

Write your goals down

Actually writing your goals down on a piece of paper can mean you are six times more likely to achieve them.

Write down on a piece of paper (or in your phone) what you want to achieve over the next 12 weeks.

Now put this in a place where you are going to be reminded of it every day, preferably first thing in the morning.

I recommend by your bed or stuck to the fridge.

Take photos

Ask your partner or friend to take 2 photos of you standing in front of a plain white background.  Take one photo front on and one side on.  Keep these to look back to and you’ll be able to see your progress!

Record a video

Don’t be shy, we all love a selfie.  I have found this to be one of the most successful tools to refer back to when starting a new challenge.   Using the camera on your phone record yourself answering the questions below. Keep it short and remember nobody except you needs to see the footage. Then review the footage at the end of the challenge and see how far you have come and how you feel.

How are you feeling right now and why?

What do you want achieve or complete?

Why are you doing this?

How will you feel at the end of this once you have achieved your goal?

How would you feel if you don’t complete this?

What are your eating habits like now?

Remember you don’t have to be great to start but you have to start to be great!
